PENYEBAB TENGGELAMNYA KAPAL MV NUR ALLYA DI LAUT HALMAHERA, MALUKU UTARA, REPUBLIK INDONESIA

the MV Nur Allya, loaded with Nickle Ore, sankAbstract
MV Nur Allya experienced a ship accident, namely sinking, which occurred in the Halmahera Sea, North Maluku. This is supported by the discovery on the seabed in the form of a lifeboat, lifebuoy, and a Yokohama brand tow fender which belonged to the ship (National Transportation Safety Committee, 2019). The ship is suspected of experiencing liquefaction due to the cargo it was carrying, namely Nickel Ore, which is a raw material for making nickel metal. Based on the results of research on the Cause of the Sinking of the MV Nur Allya Ship in the Halmahera Sea, North Maluku, which were summarized from various sources, it can be concluded that the inspection was carried out by simple and poorly calibrated laboratory equipment and the inspectors did not have certificates which were required in testing Solid Bulk Cargoes in the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code. The MC value (39.75%) contained in the Nickle Ore loaded into the MV Nur Allya exceeded the TML value that had been set, namely 38.25%. Liquefaction occurred on the Nickle Ore cargo transported by MV Nur Allya which caused changes in the stability of the ship due to the free surface on the cargo, which could cause the ship to capsize and sink.
