This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the 1994 sinking of the MV Estonia in the Baltic Sea. Through literature research and a review of causal factors, the study examines the extreme weather factors, ship technical issues, and maritime safety implications associated with the tragedy. Combining research findings with official investigations, we examine the psychological and social impacts on victims and their families, as well as post-disaster regulatory and policy changes. This analysis illustrates the importance of stricter maritime safety policies and preventive measures in the shipping industry. Through an in-depth understanding of this event, this paper contributes to a broader understanding of maritime disaster events and efforts to prevent them in the future.
